Participation in industry initiatives
We are pleased to announce that Bioscore Sustainability is participating in Travalyst’s certification initiative for programs that claim to comply with the European ECGT Directive (Empowering Consumers for the Green Transition). Bioscore Sustainability has declared its compliance with the Directive and, as a result, is included on Travalyst’s list of sustainability certification programs for accommodation providers.
The initiative provides a mechanism designed to help certification systems, lodging providers, and booking platforms prepare for upcoming regulations and stricter requirements for sustainability reporting, while offering the entire sector an overview of which systems comply with the regulations.

BIOSCORE certification is included in the official list of certifications considered by GHA DISCOVERY for its Green Collection. This collection brings together establishments that have obtained at least one of the certifications accepted by the program. View the official list.
Global Hotel Alliance describes itself as the world’s largest alliance of independent hotel brands and, according to data published in September 2026, comprises 55 brands, 1,000 hotels, and has a presence in 100 countries.
GHA DISCOVERY member hotels that hold a valid BIOSCORE certification may submit it for consideration as part of the Green Collection, in accordance with the program’s criteria and validation process. Inclusion is not automatic and does not imply environmental performance beyond the aspects covered by the scope of the certification.
BIOSCORE certification is based on defined environmental, social, and governance requirements. The assessment and certification decision are made by an independent certification body.
Following the latest review of recognized credentials by the Swisstainable expert group, the BIOSCORE Certification for Tourism Businesses and the BIOSCORE Certification for Restaurants have been incorporated into the Swisstainable sustainability program, alongside the BIOSCORE Certification for Accommodations, which was already recognized. Organizations certified at BIOSCORE Levels A or A+ may submit their certification as an individual credential to apply for Swisstainable Level II – Engaged. Certifications at Levels B or C are recognized as combined credentials and must be submitted alongside another recognized combined credential, in accordance with current Swisstainable requirements.
This recognition offers lodging facilities, dining establishments, and non-lodging tourism businesses an additional way to apply to participate in the program. Admission and level assignment are subject to Swisstainable’s criteria and validation process. Bioscore owns and develops the BIOSCORE certification schemes, which establish the requirements for assessing the integration of environmental, social, and governance criteria into the management of tourism organizations. The methodology analyzes processes, indicators, tools, and evidence designed to facilitate structured management and continuous improvement.
Conformity assessment and certification decisions are carried out by independent certification bodies, ensuring a separation between the management of the schemes and conformity assessment.
