Tourism sustainability based on data, action and recognition
From 21 to 23 January 2026, Bioscore participated in FITUR 2026, one of the leading international events in the tourism sector, reinforcing its commitment to measurable, traceable and action-oriented tourism sustainability.
During these days, we shared conversations, learnings and visions with destinations, companies and institutions in the sector, actively participating in round tables, specialised presentations and spaces for recognising innovation. All of them with a common thread: moving towards sustainable tourism management models based on data, indicators and well-informed decisions.
Bioscore Colloquium: ‘Management and certification of tourism sustainability: from control to recognition’
On 21 January, Bioscore organised the colloquium ‘Management and certification of tourism sustainability: from control to recognition’, held in Auditorium A of the SEGITTURLab Space.
The meeting was aimed at tourist destinations and the agents that drive them on a daily basis, and provided an opportunity to reflect on how to connect data, analysis and indicators with certification processes that facilitate the daily work of management teams and reinforce the credibility of the efforts already made.
Throughout the session, the following were shared:
- Real experiences of destinations that already work with sustainability indicators.
- Clear ideas for transforming complex information into useful decisions and understandable messages.
- Keys to understanding certification as recognition of effort and not just a requirement.
- Practical recommendations for continuing to move towards evidence-based sustainable tourism management.
The talk was attended by Mayte García Córcoles (HOSBEC), Elizabeth Keegan (Lloret Turisme) and Ana Isabel Sánchez González (OCA Global), and was moderated by Virginia Sarobe, Director of Sustainability at Bioscore.
‘Organisations that get involved: the challenge of responsible water management’
On 22 January, Bioscore participated in the round table ‘Organisations that get involved’, organised by FITURNext – Ideas for Change, focusing on one of the major challenges currently facing tourism: responsible and efficient water management.
At Bioscore, we believe that real change happens when organisations share experiences, lessons learned and progress in an open and constructive manner. This round table highlighted how the tourism sector is already moving towards more sustainable water use, recognising what has been achieved so far and pointing out the challenges that we can still tackle collaboratively.
The session was moderated by journalist Isabel Benítez and featured Catalina Alemany Sorell (RIU Hotels), Beatriz García (SEGITTUR) and Virginia Sarobe (Bioscore).
Finalists in the AMT Smart Destinations Awards 2026
Bioscore was selected as a finalist in the AMT Smart Destinations Awards 2026, in the Environmental Sustainability category, as part of FITUR TechY.
These awards recognise innovative solutions and technological tools that have already been implemented to help tourist destinations move towards the Smart Tourist Destination (STD) model. Representing Bioscore, Víctor Monzón, CEO, participated in this event, highlighting Bioscore’s sustainability management system for destinations, aimed at turning sustainability into real, measurable and traceable action, supporting strategic decision-making based on data and evidence.
‘From informed travellers to influential travellers in the digital and sustainable era’
Also within the framework of FITUR TechY Sustainability, we participated with the presentation ‘From informed travellers to influential travellers in the digital and sustainable era’, given by Virginia Sarobe, Director of Sustainability at Bioscore.
This presentation addressed how the way we travel, choose destinations and share experiences is changing. Today, technology is in the hands of travellers, who seek information, plan, make decisions and communicate their experiences directly through social media and digital platforms.
In this new context, tourism sustainability is gaining importance as a criterion for choice and poses a clear challenge for destinations and companies: to adapt to a more informed, more connected and more demanding traveller by offering authentic and responsible proposals in line with new social expectations.
Building the future of sustainable tourism, together
Each of these spaces at FITUR 2026 was an opportunity to continue moving towards more sustainable tourism, based on indicators, data and conscious decisions, where sustainability is no longer just an intention but becomes a real and measurable impact.
At Bioscore, we would like to thank everyone who joined us, those who participated in the meetings and those who believe, like us, that the future of tourism is built on commitment, collaboration and shared purpose.
We continue to walk together towards more responsible, traceable tourism with real impact.
