Before planning for 2027, review the data from the peak season

Occupancy and revenue aren’t the only metrics from the peak season. Data on energy, water, waste, and actions taken also provide insight into how a hotel performed during its busiest months.
Compare Before Concluding
An increase in total energy consumption may be due, among other factors, to higher occupancy. For this reason, it is advisable to compare indicators such as kWh per occupied room with equivalent periods and to take into account the conditions under which the establishment operated. The same logic applies when examining water consumption per overnight stay or food waste per service, provided that such records are available.
The differences identified do not, on their own, explain their causes. They indicate where to look further: a facility, a process, or a measure implemented during the season. What comparisons will be useful as we close out 2026, and how can we apply what we’ve learned to planning for 2027?
